        History

        W.A.G. Young arrived in the Colony of Vancouver Island in 1857 as the secretary to the commission determining the Northwest Boundary. In 1859, he was appointed the Colonial Secretary for British Columbia and Acting Colonial Secretary for Vancouver Island. He continued in that position after the two colonies were united in 1866 and remained as Colonial Secretary until 1869 when he returned to England.
