Biographical history

Born in England in 1838, William Wilson founded the Victoria retail clothing firm of W & J Wilson Ltd. He served both as an Alderman on Victoria City Council and as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. He died in Victoria in 1922. During his time in Canada, he was actively involved in real estate speculation, mining, and footwear manufacturing, as well as in local society and the family business.
