History
The Victoria Girls' Drill Team was founded in 1938 under the leadership of Norman "Cappy" Foster. The team was composed of young single women of "high moral standing" organized into a skilled drill corps. As a drill team, they performed at a number of events including performances for troops during World War II, at May 24 celebrations, the 1939 San Francisco World's Fair, and at the Portland Rose Festival. The first director was Norman Foster, who founded and led the group from 1938 to 1959. After his death in 1959, John Shrimpton and Robbie Robertson served as directors. The Drill Team disbanded in 1976.
