Biographical history
The Vernon Operatic Society, an amateur operatic society, was established in 1934. J.M. Edgar was elected president and fees were $1 annually, with members buying their own scores. Their first production was H.M.S. Pinafore, perfomed at the National Ballroom in May, 1934. The advent of the second world war brought an end to the activities of the operatic society.
