History

The Education Council (EdCo) is a legislated body that was established by the College and Institute Act in 1994, and acts in an advisory role to the Board of Governors.

The Council is responsible for the approval of student-centered improvements to curriculum, policies and procedures to ensure VCC’s students receive the highest quality of enriched educational experiences. The Council and its Standing Committees are committed to creating standards of evaluation for curriculum development, changes to policies and procedures, fair appeals processes, and thorough criteria for program reviews and renewals.

Education Council is comprised of representatives from across VCC, including 10 faculty representatives, four educational administrative representatives, two student service representatives, and four student representatives from the Students’ Union of Vancouver Community College.

To assist the Education Council in the decision making process, there are four supporting Standing Committees: Curriculum Committee, Educational Policy Committee, Appeals Oversight Committee, and Program Review and Renewal Committee.
