The University of Victoria Women's Action Group was established in 1973 by a group of concerned University of Victoria women to act in the interests of all women students, staff, faculty, spouses, and alumni on campus. The objective of the group included setting up a women's centre and a Women's Studies program, sponsoring conference, and expanding day care facilities and part-time degree and teaching programs. Its Women's Studies Course Committee helped develop courses in women's studies.
