Biographical history
Thomas H. Horne worked in Victoria from ca. 1892 to 1940. Horne initially worked in a variety of capacities for the Victoria Truck and Dray Company until ca. 1908 when he went into partnership with Alex. M. Bannerman in the merchant firm Bannerman and Horne. Bannerman and Horne lasted from ca. 1908 to 1913 and specialized in the sales of flour, feed and seed. In 1917, Horne was the proprietor of the Tourist Hotel, located on Johnson Street, when he applied for a position selling alcohol for the provincial government. Horne subsequently worked as a vendor at B.C. liquor stores and as a manager for the Liquor Control Board until the end of the 1930s.

The fonds consists of correspondence, agreements, receipts and a will of John Stafford Horne. Correspondence relates to Horne's appointment as a vendor for the provincial liquor stores. Agreements and receipts relate to Horne's personal and business investments.
