Biographical history
Stuart Thomson was born in Hampstead, England, and came to Vancouver from Australia in 1910. He became a well-known professional photographer in Vancouver and was noted for his aerial photography. He also operated a commercial studio.
Custodial history
Purchased from Stuart Thomson in 1954 by the Vancouver Sun newspaper, which donated them to the archives in 1963.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of Thomson's negatives depicting people, sporting events, business and industry, buildings, scenery, transportation and newsworthy events, such as royal visits, disasters and parades, mostly occuring in Vancouver.
