Biographical history

The Grindrod Church was built in 1919 as a memorial to those soldiers who fought in World War I. In 1924, the church was consecrated as St. Paul's Church with a largely Anglican congregation. Vicars included Cecil Blay, M. Percivall, M. West, W. Irwin, and F. Sharman. The church was served by the Sunday School van in the 1930s and 1940s, when ladies drove throughout the province to deliver Sunday School lessons. In 1969 the church was sold to the Free Methodist Church. In 1981 the church became a mission field of the Village Missions; it is now called the Grindrod Gospel Church.
