History
Difficulties in crossing Gastineau Channel to reach St. Anns Hospital, Juneau, Alaska, caused the Sisters to open another St. Anns Hospital in Douglas, Alaska, in 1897, primarily to serve the Treadwell Mines community. With the collapse of the Treadwell Mines, need for the hospital diminished.
