    Biographical history

St. Andrew's United Church, located in Kaslo and part of Kootenay Presbytery, was formed in 1925 from the union of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and the local Methodist church. The latter had been initiated from Nelson in 1891 while Presbyterian services were begun in 1892. A Presbyterian church, Robertson Presbyterian Church, was built in 1893. It was renamed St. Andrew's in 1900. As a United Church pastoral charge, Kaslo has included several other points, but after 1973 it included only Procter as an additional preaching point. In 1985 the congregations at New Denver and Silverton were added to the charge under the new name, Kootenay-Slocan Pastoral Charge.
