    Biographical history

The Peace River district was set aside as settlement lands for returned soldiers following World War I. Consequently, the Diocese of Caledonia initiated work in this area, choosing Pouce Coupe as the central point. By the early 1930's the district had been divided into four parishes with their respective centres at Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Rolla and Sunset Prairie. Dawson Creek incorporated Pouce Coupe, Kilkerran, Shearer Dale and several other communities in its parish ministry. By 1942 the parish of St. Martin, Rolla (closed in the 1950's) had been added to that of St. Mark, Dawson Creek. In the mid-1950's a new mission was established in North Dawson Creek called St. Paul's or St. Paul's, Grandview while Pouce Coupe was established as a separate parish. St. Paul's, North Dawson Creek was separated into a new parish in 1963 but existed only until about 1967. By 1975 St. Andrew's, Sunset Prairie had been transferred from the Mission to the Hart Highway to the care of St. Mark's, Dawson Creek. In 1990 Christ Church, Pouce Coupe again became part of the parish and the parish was subsequently renamed South Peace Parish.
