Biographical history

Ross Anthony Lort was born in Birmingham, England. He began his career as an architect by articling at Samuel Maclure's office in 1904. In 1919, Lort moved to Vancouver where he became a partner in the firm Maclure and Lort. Following Maclure's death in 1929, Lort continued to practice on his own, later renaming his firm Lort and Lort, in partnership with his son William.

The fonds consists of photographs. Images depict homes designed by the architectural firm of Maclure and Lort, a portrait of Samuel Maclure and a photograph of a watercolour painting of a Maclure designed home.
