Biographical history

The Reform Party of Canada first ran in West Vancouver in 1988 when the riding was known as Capilano Howe Sound. Neil Thompson was the party's candidate but was defeated by Mary Collins of the Conservative Party. In 1993 Herb Grubel ran for the Reform Party and subsequently served as the MP until the 1997 federal election when John Reynolds was elected as a Reform MP. In 1996 electoral boundaries were changed and the riding became West Vancouver Sunshine Coast. Prior to the 2000 federal election members of the Reform Party voted to end the Reform Party of Canada and create the Canadian Alliance. John Reynolds was re-elected in the 2000 election as an Alliance MP. The constituency was represented by party members from North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Pemberton, Whistler, Squamish, Lions Bay and Bowen Island.

Custodial history

The records were donated to the West Vancouver Archives by Bob Drummond, a past president of the Capilano Howe Sound Constituency.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of a series of minutes from monthly meetings of the constituency.
