    Administrative history

Plura Hills United Church grew out of an outreach project of Kamloops-Okanagan Presbytery. In 1978, the Presbytery hired a part-time lay minister, Mae Gracey, to build a United Church presence in the south-west section of Kamloops. At the same time, an ecumenical venture of the Presbyterian, Lutheran, Roman Catholic, and Anglican churches in Kamloops had been established. The United Church joined these denominations to form the Aberdeen Hills PLURA Society (1979), and together they purchased five acres of land adjacent to Aberdeen Elementary School. The intention was to develop a joint PLURA site and centre for worship, study, and outreach. The vision was never realized. The United Church congregation was formally established in 1980 as Plura Hills United Church, and began worshiping at Summit Elementary School, until it moved to Aberdeen Elementary School in 1982. The congregation dedicated a new church building at 2090 Pacific Way, in September 1999.
