Biographical history

George Phillips was the Superintendent of the Naval Dockyard, Esquimalt. In 1892, he was second in command of Admiralty lands and buildings in B.C. Phillips was also responsible for overseeing the reduction (1905) of Naval establishments under the Admiral Fisher policy. In 1910, he was transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy as Naval Store officer and in 1913 outfitted the Arctic Expedition. The Phillips family resided in Victoria, B.C.

The fonds consists of papers pertaining mainly to George "Laddie" Phillips' naval career. Fonds includes a large photograph collection, sketches, watercolour, books, and brochures.
