    Biographical history

    Otis Johnson Todd was born in Garland, Pennsylvania in 1883 and died in Vancouver in 1952. He earned a B.A. from Harvard University in 1906, and after teaching Greek for 6 years, returned to Harvard where he obtained his PhD in 1914. After three years at Carleton College, Minnesota, Todd moved in 1918 to the fledgling University of British Columbia where, after 1922 he was professor of Greek, after 1932 professor of Classics and from 1941 until his retirement in 1949 head of the Department of Classics. Todd was also keenly interested in sports and served as president of the Dominion of Canada Football Association (1947-1949).

    The fonds consists of copies of Todd's articles (1915-1952), Todd family genealogies and a handwritten travel journal and accompanying photograph album from a trip to Europe, Egypt and Greece (1923).
