    Biographical history

    The Oldtimers Association was formed in 1941 with the initial purpose of planning regular banquets for those Vernon and District pioneers over the age of 55 who had lived in the area for 40 years or more. Membership fees were $1 per year. No records of the Association's activities exist past 1941. It is not known if the association was officially disbanded.

    Fonds consists of the administrative records of the Oldtimers Association for 1941. Includes the Association's record book containing the names of Vernon and District Oldtimers, as well as the Association's minutes from Feb.- July of 1941. The minutes document the Association's objectives, guidelines for membership, and activities. Some of the more prominent projects the Association was involved in include the establishment of an outdoor checkerboard play area, the proper storage of oldtimer relics, picnics, banquets and the documentation of Oldtimer names, birthplaces, and dates of arrival in the Okanagan.
