Biographical history
Victor Nancollas (1906-1993) emigrated from England to Salmon Arm, BC, in 1928, obtained employment at S.A.F.E., was Scout Master in the early 1930s, an elected alderman from 1945 to 1950, 1953 to 1955, and mayor of Salmon Arm from 1956 to 1970. He was also active in service organizations such as the Kinsmen's Club.
Victor Nancollas married Jennie Miller in 1934.
Jennie (1910-1996) was active in community life. She was the co-founder of the Sketch Club and founder of the still active Pottery Club. Jennie was also very active in the United Church Women's organizations and in the Women's Institute.

The Miller family lived in Oak Bay. Frank G. Miller and his brother David Miller began their careers as fishermen in the late 1930s.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of seven series consisting of personal correspondence, family photographs, Jennie Miller's school records and memorabilia of Victor's years in public office and Jennie's community activities. The contents of the "Nancollas, Miller family fonds" attest to many years of service given to the community of Salmon Arm by Victor Nancollas and his wife Jennie Miller.
