The archives acquires records that document the social, political, economic and geographic development of Nanaimo and surrounding areas. Holdings include documents, photographs, maps, memorabilia and other materials from the public and private sectors including the municipal government, community and service organizations, families and individuals. Records date from 1852 to the present with materials from 1874, the year of city incorporation, to 1952 predominating.
