        History

        Harvey Miller was actor, director, and theatre instructor at the University of Victoria. Miller was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1936 and joined the University of Victoria's fledgling Theatre Department in 1970. With fellow instructor John Krich, Miller established "Victoria Fair" which ran from 1969 to 1971 presenting three classical plays in repertory and the Phoenix Summer Theatre program of the 1970s and 1980s, and organized the UVic Beckett Festival in 1996. Miller also established Phoenix Plays in 1984, which paired first and second-year playwrights with fourth year directing students. Miller traveled extensively and performed throughout North America on stage, film and television. He died in 2002.
