Biographical history
Margaret Ellen Johnston was the daughter of Robert Henry and Frances (Skelton) Winter. She married Harold L. Johnston in 1953 and died in Victoria.
Custodial history
Margaret Johnston evidently received the photographs and the Maggie Winter scrapbook from members of her family, and the Evans material was given to her by Mrs. Henry Evans.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of photographs depicting views of Victoria and images of the Edgar Dewdney and Paulus Aemilius Irving families, employers of Robert Winter, Margaret Johnston's father. Fonds includes photographs and postcards of Vancouver, Banff, the Rocky Mountains, and Prairie Indians compiled by the Evans family. Fonds includes an album containing verses, clippings, cards and Winter family notices as well as other albums of clippings and ephemera.
