Biographical history

Born in 1885 in Scotland, Jack Loutet emigrated to Canada in 1905. He was a Councillor for the District of North Vancouver for eleven years, becoming Reeve in 1923. He also served as Mayor for the City of North Vancouver and was an unsuccessful (by 32 votes) conservative candidate for North Vancouver in 1928 before his election to that position in 1930. He also operated a real estate and insurance company until 1983. His son Lindsay Loutet, who was born in 1910, organized the Grouse Mountain Ski Club in the fall of 1927. He was also a noted outdoors photographer, with many of his images a part of the North Vancouver Museum and Archives collection.
