Biographical history

The Local Bursar answered to the Local Superior and her Council and had charge of all the financial matters of the house, including all matters related to tuition and school registration. The bursar or "econome locale" was first listed in the Obediences in 1914 and continued until 1971, after which her duties were assumed by the librarian, Sister Anne Tourigny, who had hitherto been accountant for the St. Ann's Secondary School. Prior to this, these functions were likely performed by the Provincial Bursar or her predecessor in the Vicariate.

Custodial history

Scope and content

The sous-fonds consists of six series of records, including School register of pupils, Names and address registers, General Day Books, General Ledgers, Payroll Ledgers, Reddition annuelle des comptes, Sisters Accounts, Student Accounts, and Miscellaneous. Though the position of Local Bursar ended in 1971, several series continue until all accounts were completely closed out in 1975. The financial records tend to reflect the school cycle beginning in August/September and ending in July.
