    Biographical history

    The Drama Club evolved from the PTA in 1952. Plays were often held in the high school auditorium. Roy Hunt was the first president and initially was sponsored by the PTA. the club read plays and selected one to do. In 1953 they entered the Drama Festival in Nanaimo. Over the years they entered many festivals and in 1961 under the direction of Yvonne Green won the BC Festival and competed in the Dominion Festival in Montreal. The club officially disbanded in 1983 after several years of inactivity.

    Custodial history

    The largest part of the fonds was donated by The Drama Club, through Yvonne Green, who was a director for many years. Some of the photos were donated by Wilmer Gold who was a professional photographer and took most of the photographs. Ivy Dreany donated a few photos that were in her possession. The collection was donated in 1984, 1985, 1987, 1989, 1990 and 1991.

    The fonds consists of documents and photographs depicting the history of the Lake Cowichan Drama Club. The fonds consists of 14 series and include scrapbooks, financial records, correspondence, minutes, scripts, programs, memberships and constitution.
