Administrative history

The Junior Chamber of Commerce evolved into the Jaycees. Kelowna Jaycees are a group of young male professionals and entrepreneurs that strive to grow as individuals while positively impacting the community.
The Jaycees look to strengthen leadership characteristics by being involved, taking different courses, or working on local, regional, national and international events and projects - all voluntary and all in a welcoming environment.
The Kelowna Jaycees are affiliated with Junior Chamber Internatioinal (JCI); a worldwide federation of young leaders, between the ages of 18-40. The organizatioin has been referred to as the premiere leadership development organization for young people. Kelowna Jaycee prides itself on offering the following four areas of opportunity:
• Individual Development
• Business Development
• Community Development
• International Development
In 1936 Dick Parkinson started the Kelowna Junior Board of Trade, and was its first president. (Junior Chamber of Commerce, now the Jaycees). The Junior Chamber of Commerce's motto was "Build a Better Man to Build a Better World."
Each year scrapbooks would be compiled and entered into the National Junior Chamber of Commerce Contest. The scrapbooks contain newspaper articles, photographs, brochures etc. on the City Of Kelowna.
