The Journeymen Barber's International Union of America, Local 372 was established on January 11, 1902. It was formed to represent the interests of barbers, hairdressers and cosmetologists in the area of Greater Victoria and parts of Vancouver Island as far north as and including Chemainus. The union local was also known as the Journeymen Barbers, Hairdressers and Cosmetologists International Union of America, Local 372 and the Journeymen Barbers, Hairdressers, Cosmetologists and Proprietors' International Union, Local 372. Local 372 amalgamated with the Vancouver Local ca. 1980.
