James S. Clark was a naval architect. He was born in the United Kingdom and worked for Barrow Shipbuilding, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding (Japan) and Vea Marquia Cadiz (Victoria).

The fonds consists of plans for a new type of lifeboat (which won the Anthony Pollock Prize, 1900) and for a cargo ship, plans for launching Spanish cruisers (1905), yacht hull plans, principal dimension sheets for 13 ships built by Barrow Shipbuilding Company, and a book of plans of ships built between 1880 and 1905 by Barrow Shipbuilding, Vea Marquia Cadiz, and Mitsabishi Shipbuilding (Japan).
