Administrative history

In Vancouver, on July 19, 1980, a founding meeting for local gay Anglicans and their friends was held. In 1981, the group became an official chapter of Integrity Canada, and began publishing their newsletter the following year. By 1983 first President Bill Wood and first Chaplain, Father Roy Dungey are elected. It was not until 1989 that Integrity had an official presence at the General Synod of the Anglican Church of Canada, and a delegation from Integrity Vancouver attended. In 1992 they co-hosted the first national conference. Throughout the 1990's, Integrity Canada continued to work with local and national Anglicans to promote equal rights and respect for Gay and Lesbian Anglicans. In 1998, the first motion was made to the Synod of the Diocese of New Westminster asking for permission to bless unions of same-sex couples. Until the motion's passing and the Bishop's consent in 2003, Integrity Vancouver worked hard with parishes of the Diocese to build bridges and educate the community. The first same-sex couple to have their union officially blessed in the Anglican Church of Canada were Integrity Vancouver members.
