G.S. Conway fonds

The fonds consists of material generated and collected by West Vancouver civil engineer Gilbert S. Conway with the majority relating to the design, engineering, and construction of Lions Gate Bridge. The material includes handwritten diaries, booklets, reports, photographs, maps, a personal business card, and Christmas card showing Lions Gate Bridge.

The fonds is arranged into the following series:

Warren family fonds

Some of the family members represented in the fonds are Reverend Dawson Warren, Falkland G.E. Warren, and Charlotte Jackson. The fonds also includes biographical information about Harry Warren and copies of his publications to 1978.

Institute of Oceanography fonds

The fonds consists of miscellaneous files from George Pickard's office (1949-1974), including records from the Canadian Committee on Oceanography (1960-1972). The bulk of the records are composed of departmental files including correspondence, grant material, and financial records. There is also a comprehensive set of oceanographic log sheets containing data collected between 1951 and 1978.

Department of Psychology fonds

The fonds consists of correspondence, reports, and minutes of meetings relating to the activities and programs of the Department of Psychology, and photographs of Department Heads and prominent faculty members. Some records date from before the formation of the Department, when the psychology program was still part of the Department of Philosophy and Psychology. Also included are audio recordings of interviews (with typed transcripts) documenting the Department's historical development.
The material is arranged in six series: Administration, Departmental Committees, Departmental Programs, External Correspondence, Historical Files, and Oral History Project. The Historical Files series consists of textual records which document the Department's formative years, and photographs; they had been placed in a box and stored separately from the Department's other records until transferred to the Archives.

E.L. Watson fonds

Fonds consists of minutes of meetings, correspondence, reports, printed material, and publications pertaining to Watson's professional activities and affiliations. Fonds includes materials pertaining to the Engineering Science Leads Committee of the B.C. Agricultural Sciences Co-ordinating Committee (BCSCC) on which Watson sat for the period 1967-1978. Composed of representatives of the Provincial Ministry of Agriculture, Agriculture Canada, and the UBC Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, the Committee advised the Minister of Agriculture and allotted research funds for research projects within the province.

The records of the two projects have been kept separate. Reports and memoranda which were issued as a series have been arranged in series order, but other items were filed arbitrarily under the two projects and have been maintained this way.

It includes notes and manuscripts of several of his book, including "From Pebbles to Computers" and "Sciencescape" and copies of and correspondence relating to his articles published by "The Globe and Mail", the Southam News Syndicate and "Science Dimension" in the 1980s. It also includes correspondence relating to his professional work, his broadcasting and literary career, his work in the Department of Zoology at UBC, and research materials, information and correspondence regarding various associations to which Suzuki belonged or had dealings. It also includes recordings of Dr. David Suzuki’s "Discovery" and Dr. Suzuki’s "Equinox" from 1983-1990 and video recordings of some episodes of "The Nature of Things" from 1994, and copies of his speeches from 1985-2009.
