Hughes to Max Stern discussing his artwork, plans for paintings and sketching trips, and prices received for many pieces. Also included are Hughes' descriptions of selected pieces, 1971-1989; and photographs of selected sites and finished works. The letters document the role of the gallery as sole agent of Hughes' work, and Hughes' artistic development.

The collection consists of photographs depicting Kwakwaka'wakw people in Alert Bay and on Vancouver Island from Fort Rupert in the north to Comox in the south. Collection includes photographs of individuals, families, village scenes, community activities, industry (primarily fishing), and of students at St. Michael's Residential School at Alert Bay.
The collection consists of video tapes depicting aspects of the lives of Kwakwaka'wakw (Kwagiulth) peoples on Vancouver Island from Fort Rupert in the north to Comox in the south. Videotapes document community events, cultural activities (including potlatches), and origin myths of Kwakwaka'wakw villages and include interviews pertaining to family histories.
Collection consists of a a receipt from E.J. Wilson to Western Fuel Corporation for labour and materials used in the installation of water connection at the Wilson home at 395 Ninth Street, a booklet detailing the agreement between the Corporation and its employees (1927) and a booklet detailing the agreement between corporation employees and Dr. George A.B. Hall (1921). A manuscript annotation on the verso of the booklet reads "Exhibit No. 1 Hall vs. Lane, June 28/22, A. Forrester, Re[g]."
Western Fuel Corporation of CanadaCollection consists of photographic prints and text labels used in the “Emergence from the Shadow: First Peoples’ Photographic Perspective” exhibit at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, from October 22, 1999 to January 6, 2002. The images depict several different First Nations groups including Haida, Kimsquit, Bella Coola, Ulkatcho-Carrier, Chilcotin, Assiniboine, and Gitksan. The label text incorporates information which Harlan Smith, the photographer, recorded at the time of creation. Labels gives name and age (if known) of the sitters as well as their lineage, employment, and style of dress.
The archival fonds consists of the following series: Direct Action-related clippings, correspondence, ephemera and notes; legal correspondence; pre- and post-parole correspondence, ephemera, notes and writings by others; correspondence received during incarceration; prison records (supplied to Hansen under an Access to Information request); Direct Action chapter drafts and related materials; and RCMP surveillance transcripts (closed until 2072).
