The fonds consists of the records of David H. Flaherty created throughout his professional and private life. They include project research files relating to his work with Canadian and international privacy issues during his time at the University of Western Ontario from 1972 to 1987; teaching and lecture files on early American history, and American and Canadian legal and constitutional history from his time at Princeton, the University of Virginia and the University of Western Ontario from 1963 to 1991; and his personal files including diaries, correspondence, photographs and subject files from 1949 to 2005, including those from his time as the Information and Privacy Commissioner of British Columbia. Within each series, the files are arranged roughly by date. The personal files have been divided by Flaherty into open and restricted files.

The fonds consist of correspondence to Francis James Mayer as well as Richard James Neville Mayers from Hamilton Mack Laing and Wife Ethel Laing. Fonds include photographs taken by Hamilton Mack Laing documenting his and wife Ethels homesteading adventures in Comox and typed unpublished manuscript BayBrook Lifes Greatest Adventure. Fonds include handwritten and typed natural history articles that were published in various outdoor sport magazines. Copies of magazine articles are also include in fonds. Hamilton Mack Laing was a well known wildlife author, photographer and museum collector, and artist, and made his home in Comox on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Born in 1883 in Ontario, Laing grew up on a Manitoba farm, attended art school in New York, and traveled the American west before becoming a school principal, photographer, writer, naturalist, bird collector, and nut farmer during his 99 years. He was well known in hunting and wildlife circles on Vancouver Island.

The fonds contains miscellaneous records of the I.O.D.E. and the Delta Museum and Archives, and photographs of members of the I.O.D.E. and Dugout committee. The fonds holds a collection of Mowat family photographs used in Ethel's memoir; a collection of records and photographs, largely belonging to the McKee family, found at the McKee House prior to its renovation as a Senior Citizen's Centre; and a collection of taped and transcribed interviews with Ethel and Sid Mowat, and others conducted by Ethel with local residents, including Bob Trim and Rosetta Saga.
