Fonds include photographs taken by Hamilton Mack Laing documenting his and wife Ethels homesteading adventures in Comox and typed unpublished manuscript BayBrook Lifes Greatest Adventure. Hamilton Mack Laing was a well known wildlife author, photographer and museum collector, and artist, and made his home in Comox on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Born in 1883 in Ontario, Laing grew up on a Manitoba farm, attended art school in New York, and traveled the American west before becoming a school principal, photographer, writer, naturalist, bird collector, and nut farmer during his 99 years. He was well known in hunting and wildlife circles on Vancouver Island.

The fonds contain maps, blueprints and posters. Maps include B.C Department of Lands, mining, sedimentary and volcanic maps, parks, forestry, climatic forest types, pre-emption maps, topographical maps, railway and Provincial Cadastral Surveys.;Blueprints include Courtenay water supply and pipe routes, city of Courtenay and District. Posters include salt water and food chains, common mosses, BC shellfish and Pacific Salmon. Fonds also includes The Theed Pearse Collection. Pearse was a naturalist, ornithologist and author. The Theed Pearse Collection consists of 209 photographs and 417 slides depicting scenery and natural history of Comox Valley as well as travel photos of California and Europe. Collection includes some Pearse family photographs.

The fonds contain photographs and slides of the early Village of Comox buildings and streets, Comox Nautical Days as well as the Comox Post Office. Fonds also contain ephemera regarding service groups such as dEsterre Center, Filberg Festival, Comox Golf Club and Library as well as reference files on Comox history. Fonds also include Green Sheet Newspapers between the years 1960-1980 as well as a collection of the Vancouver Province Womens Section dating from 1924 to 1942.

The contents of the fonds consist of photographs of early pioneer people, buildings and scenery of the Comox area. Fonds also include emphera on local events as well as four scrapbooks containing newspaper articles she wrote and other historical writings of interest.
