City of Richmond fonds

The fonds consists of all records of the City of Richmond, and include the full range of local government rights, responsibilities and activities. The fact that the City of Richmond is comprised of islands forming the delta of the Fraser River has resulted in dyking, drainage, and bridge building being prominent in the work and records of the municipality. In addition to bylaws and minutes of council and committees of council, other functions documented in municipal records include administration and operation of municipal holdings and services including: municipal land and buildings, roads and highways, waterworks, parks and recreation, fire and police services, public works, engineering, planning and zoning.

Fonds is comprised of correspondence, photographs, identity and personal documents, society registration documents, minutes, clippings, memorabilia and ephemera created or collected by Alexander and Gina Dimant in Poland, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), Italy and Canada. Records pertain to their family history, work, school, and social and volunteer activities prior to and after the Second World War.

Louise Stein Sorensen fonds

Fonds consists of war-time records belonging to Sorensen’s mother and great aunt, from their time spent in hiding in the Netherlands. These include official and forged identity cards and ration cards. Fonds also includes a 1947 second edition copy of Het Achterhuis, the diary of Anne Frank that belonged to Sorensen’s mother, Marianne (Jeanne).

Vilcsek family collection

Collection consists primarily of records generated or used during the period of the Second World War by the Vilcsek family in Budapest, Hungary. These include vital and personal records of the Vilcsek family, photographs, and postcards mailed to the family from Ernő Vilcsek while he was in a labour camp in Hungary. Collection also consists of artworks, several on the theme of the Holocaust, created by Eva Kero after her immigration to Vancouver, BC.

Collection has been arranged into three series: Correspondence (1942), Family records ([after 1881]–1949) and Artworks (1969–1971).

Records detail the vital statistics, career history, education, travels and emigration efforts of the family from the late 1940s until the mid-2000s. Records detail the vital statistics, career history, educational attainment, travels and emigration efforts of the family from the early twentieth century until the beginning of the twenty-first century. Fonds consists of materials related to the life and career of Margaret Dragu, spanning her years as an artist in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver. These materials include audio-visual recordings of her many performances, photographs related to both her art and her personal life, and textual records ranging from correspondence and financial statements to creative writing drafts and chapbooks. There is also a substantial amount of newspaper clippings, programs, promotional materials, and general ephemera. Records in this fonds also document her collaborations with artists and organizations such as Tom Dean, Susan Macpherson, Randy Gledhill, The Western Front, and Breakthrough Films.

Types of materials in this fonds include: printed documents and publications, photographs (printed and digital), photographic negatives and slides (35mm), moving image recordings (MiniDV, DVD, VHS, Betacam SP, 3/4 inch videotape: U-matic, 16mm film, 8mm film), and audio recordings (audio cassette tapes).

I.O.D.E. scrapbooks

The fonds consists of scrapbooks compiled by the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire, Richmond Chapter, covering the years 1947-1967 and 1967-1973. The scrapbooks chronicle the chapter's activities and interests, and provide information on the executive and members for the given years. The scrapbooks contain photographs, newspaper clippings, historical notes, event programs and memorabilia. The photographs depict IODE members, social events, parade floats, and various places in the community such as the Town Hall, cenotaph, and Lansdowne Park Racetrack.

Lubzinski brothers and Marine Products Company collection

Collection consists of a selection of of correspondence, financial records, promotional materials and other business records which document Marine Products Company's manufacturing of steering wheels, as well as the importing of raw materials, and the exporting of finished goods. Also included in the collection is a selection of Jack Lubzinski's personal records that demonstrate his interest in physics and mechanics, and his early achievements, as well as several family photographs. Whispers From The Shedrows collection

Collection consists mostly of copies of photographs collected by Jack Lowe, Gerry Gilker and Dody Wray, although some original images are also included. The images document the history of Richmond’s race tracks and horse racing industry. Two cassette tapes containing recordings of Jack Short calling races are also included. Fonds consists of Ted Clark's collection of images of Vancouver streetcars and trolley coaches, Interurban trams and trains on various lines. Images depict streetcars and trams in various locations in and around Vancouver, Richmond, North Vancouver, Squamish, New Westminster, Burnaby and Chilliwack. Also included are a several images of trains in other parts of Canada, and in the United States. Records are arranged in four series: 1. Negatives; 2. Slides; 3. Prints; 4. Moving images.

British Columbia Packers Limited photograph collection

The collection consists of photographs that document the British Columbia Packers Limited's widespread fishing and business operations. A local company with global interests, British Columbia Packers Limited's fish camps, canneries and plants dominated British Columbia's expansive coastline, in addition to those located on the east coast of Canada and beyond national boundaries. Taken by amateur and professional photographers, this collection of over 2000 images provided British Columbia Packers Limited with the means to communicate to its employees what was happening throughout the company. They also served a dual purpose by marketing the company and its various fish products locally, nationally and globally. The collection includes photographs of fishing boats, fish camps, canneries and plants, fishing technology, fish processing techniques, whaling and salmon in their natural habitat. It also includes a series of photographs documenting the construction of the new Imperial Plant in Steveston. Although the majority of the photographs document the fishing industry in Steveston and other areas along the B.C. coast such as Quadra Island, Skeena River, Queen Charlotte Islands, Alert Bay, Campbell Island, Bella Bella and Prince Rupert, canneries on the east coast are also represented. Taken as a whole, these photographs document the changes in fishing and canning technology within the British Columbia Packers Limited over a span of eight decades. The collection also includes photographs that reflect the property damage caused by the British Columbia earthquake of 1946 and photographs from a Klondike gold rush souvenir album from 1898.

Fonds consists of materials related arising from Terry Ketler's association with the Metro Media Society of Greater Vancouver (Metro Media), of which he was a founding member. Materials include photographs of Metro Media production activities (some in the form of contact sheets, some in the form of larger prints), a personal recollection of the history of Metro Media (written in 2015), and a summary of Metro Media's activities in 1971 and 1972. Also included in the fond are seven 1" video tapes, primarily documenting the Vancouver theatre company Savage Gods, and a Sony AVC-3400 DC 12V Portapac videorecorder.

Fish family fonds

Fonds consists of two sets of photographs from the early to mid-twentieth century. The first set contains three photographs of the Marpole bridge and five of the construction of the Oak Street bridge. The second set contains thirteen photographs of the Fish family's farm and lands, including the Brentwood Farm Dairy, which were rented from the Brighouse Estates for a number of years.

The fonds consist of textual records and photographs produced in relation to the Richmond Review. Textual records consist of Richmond Review newspapers and some reference material. This includes Review issues on microfilm (1932-2003), as well as clippings from the Review. This also includes hard-copy editions of the Review, covering the years 2002-2015.
The photographic materials consist of negatives taken by and used in the production of the Review; a number of these photographs were taken by Mark Patrick or Chung Chow, between 1986 and 1998.

Fonds consists of photographs and textual material related to the Aida Knapp School of Dancing which operated in Richmond between 1947 and 1979. Also included is a biography of Aida Knapp, written by her son Wes in 2003. Also included are photograph prints of Aida Knapp as a member of the dance troupe, the Twelve Aristocrats.
