Earle Birney fonds

The fonds consists of the original typescript and proofs of Trial of a City and drafts and page proofs of "Turvey". The manuscripts date from 1948 to 1952. Also included is some correspondence between Birney and Stephen Vicinczey, along with a poem that Birney submitted to Vicinczey’s magazine "Exchange".

Fonds is arranged in seven series: Biographical Information, MacPhee Family Genealogy, General Scottish History, Books and Articles by MacPhee, Banff School of Advanced Management, and History of the Faculty of
Commerce and Business Administration series. The latter series includes materials relating to the history he prepared for the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration in 1976.

Edgar Wickberg fonds

The fonds consists of records which document Edgar Wickberg's research on Chinese land tenure systems and rural society, and the history of Chinese communities overseas. Materials include research notes, correspondence, computer printouts, newspaper and magazine clippings, photocopies of both archival documents and scholarly articles, and file cards and notes stored in file card boxes. The series are Land Tenure (divided into sub-series by region), Rural Localities in China, Chinese in Canada, Chinese in the United States, and File Cards.

Edward Pretious fonds

The fonds consists of records from the Fraser River Model Project (1949-1962) and the Vancouver Harbour and Burrard Inlet Model Project (1953-1956). The records of the two projects have been kept separate. Reports and memoranda which were issued as a series have been arranged in series order, but other items were filed arbitrarily under the two projects and have been maintained this way.

Eileen Flanagan fonds

The fonds consists of 15 incoming letters from Ethel Johns (1948-1950, 1961-1965). In 1919, Johns was appointed to the dual position of Director of Nursing Services and Education at Vancouver General Hospital and coordinator of the newly-established program of nursing at UBC. Under her guidance the five-year program leading to the B.Sc. (Nursing) was established. The fonds also includes biographical information and records relating to various awards presented to Flanagan including an honourary doctorate from McGill University (1977).

Elitha Peterson Productions - “Champions for Change” fonds

The fonds consists of textual documents and audiovisual materials that relate to the filming and production of “Champions for Change”. The textual materials includes synopsis and scripts, tape logs, shot lists, transcripts and interview transcripts. A number of the tapes (including #3, #9, #10, #16, #17, #20 and #21) are not transcribed. The audiovisual materials are 26 video tapes which include master copies of the three part series “Champions for Change”, the master dub tape, as well as additional footage of interviews with key individuals. The individuals interviewed include Chantal Benoit, Jeff Adams, Chantal Petitclerc, B. MacPherson, Kristine Bacharach, Travis Engen, Dan Gangier, Eric Gagnon, and Rebecca Borneman. The tapes also include stock footage and B-roll shots.

Elliot Weisgarber fonds

The fonds consists of audio recordings of Weisgarber compositions or performances (1957-1999); musical scores, drafts and sketches (1941-1996); and research materials generated or accumulated by Weisgarber in the preparation of an unpublished biography of Aurelio Giorni, a manuscript entitled “Flute Music of Zen,” and an article "The Honkyoku of the Kinko-Ryu: Some Principles of its Organization" (1968). It also consists of the family and personal records, including correspondence, of Elliot, his wife Beth, and their family.

English literature research collection

Collection consists of materials used by David Macaree in the course of his research on early 18th Century English literature. It includes transcribed typed copies of the complete works of David Crawford (or Crawfurd) (ca. 1700); a copy of an article written by Macaree about Crawford (1961); and photocopies of early political pamphlets by Daniel Defoe (ca. 1700-1714).

Fonds includes correspondence, reports, minutes, notes, photographs, drafts of Johns' unfinished autobiography and related papers, and manuscripts of a considerable number of her articles and speeches the majority of which were published. Among the letters here included are those which Johns wrote to Eileen C. Flanagan during the period 1949-1967, and which the latter has donated.

The fonds consists of records generated by the Faculty Association in pursuit of its mandate to promote the welfare of the Faculty and the University of British Columbia. The records were organized according to a number of filing schemes, which were mainly alphabetical in nature, and constantly changing. Lack of consistency in the arrangement of the records impeded access. Accordingly, the archivist after, analyzing the records, has grouped the files into fifteen identifiable series. The original file titles have been retained.

Fonds consists of various revised constitutions, minutes, annual reports of the Club, its committees and interest groups, financial records (including bound ledgers), correspondence, membership lists, newsletters, programmes (including photographs used in their production), a videotape of the Club's 75th anniversary banquet, and scrapbooks. The growth and development of the University is paralleled by the growth of the Club, and its papers reflect many of the changes which have taken place through the years. They provide an insight into the concerns and activities of educated women through two world wars and the depression, and record some of their contribution to university life.
