The fonds consists primarily of the records of Ethel Bruce including newsclippings, concert and theatre programmes, invitations, pamphlets, maps, photographs, correspondence and picture postcards. These papers document Miss Bruce's career as a writer for the Victoria Daily Times and the Daily Colonist, especially in her role as music and theatre critic, her extensive travels, social activities, family relations and her work in organizations such as the Women's Institute. A small portion of the fonds consists of the records of Ethel Bruce's sister, Maude Bruce, primarily correspondence inward.
