The fonds consists of files of data on approximately 1400 structures collected by Jennifer Nell Barr for the Saanich Heritage Building Project. The files, which consist of written records of on-site examinations of buildings, photographs, oral histories and copies of original and secondary sources, are arranged in two series: 1) the 280 structures on which there was consensus of heritage value; and 2) the remainder of the structures considered. The files are arrange by address. The results of the survey were printed in Jennifer Nell Barr's "Saanich heritage structures: an inventory."

The fonds consists of six series of files produced by the Mayor's Office, consisting mainly of correspondence, committee minutes, reports and studies generated or acquired during the course of daily operations. The documents reflect the mayors' memberships in committees attached to council, mayors' organizations and other activities. Also included are invitations to community functions, directives to subordinates and replies to taxpayers' letters. The records include those of the administrations of Stanley Murphy (1962-1964), Hugh Austin Curtis (1965-1973), Edward Fook Lui Lum (1974-1977) and Administrator William Tremayne (1973-1985).
