Bullen family fonds

The fonds consists of photographs of salvage operations (1906-1910) carried out by the Bullen Dockyard (B.C. Marine Railway Company), of the first vessels salvaged by Yarrows Limited, of other ships and salvage vessels, of Admiral Sir John E. Commerell, and of the SS Princess Louise on the Fraser River (1899).

Marshall and Company (private researchers) requesting historical information on Yarrows Ltd., carbon copy replies from Izard and Izard's notes on the topic. Fonds includes draft of manuscript "History Project - Yarrows A", with amendments and annotations by E.W. Izard.

The fonds consists of Turner's correspondence files as surveyor, including correspondence with the Department of Transport, Registrars of Shipping and others concerning surveying and tonnage specifications. Fonds includes correspondence and plans with Yarrows Ltd., plans by Raymond H. Richards, Naval Architect, and plans of the oil fuel float for the Royal Victoria Yacht Club. Photographs are general views of salvage of tugs and salvage operations. Painting is of the tug Sudbury II.

The collection consists of ship's plans predominantly of vessels on the West Coast of Canada, including ships constructed and repaired at shipyards of Yarrows Limited (Esquimalt, B.C.) and the Victoria Machinery Depot. Many of the plans were received from these two firms. The collection includes plans of Canadian Pacific Princess and Empress ships.
