The collection consists of photographs of people, events, organizations, and institutional activities relating to the Japanese-Canadian community, primarily in British Columbia. Many of the photographs depict scenes of Japanese-Canadian life in internment and relocation camps during and after World War II.

Records include photographs of the internment camps at Hastings Park, as well as other camps in B.C. and Alberta. Fonds also includes two government reports entitled: "The Administration of Japanese Affairs in Canada, 1942-1944, Removal of Japanese from Protected Areas", and "The Hastings Park Clearing Station".

The fonds consists of records relating to the Redress Committee (1963-1987), and Haruko Kobayakawa's application for redress (1989). Fonds also includes wartime correspondence (1942-1949), financial records (1922-1941 and 1957-1989), as well as scrapbooks and diaries (1929-1985). Photographs depict friends and family.
