The fonds consists of photographs and a scrapbook. The photographs show unidentified people, soldiers (World War I) and Victoria and Nanaimo scenes. Many photographs appear to show MacLachlan's parents' house and garden. The scrapbook contains newsclippings of MacLachlan's advertisement for his brokerage business, 1909-1911, and articles mainly about mines; loose issues of MacLachlan's stock review; stock prospectuses; sheet music; various loose programs; and letters promoting a new Canadian flag.

The fonds consists of photographs, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, rules and regulations of the Victoria Girls' Drill Team, programmes and miscellaneous artifacts. Photographs, scrapbooks, and newspaper clippings depict the activities and members of the team. Artifacts consists of two complete uniforms, one hat, a team banner and a bust of Norman "Cappy" Foster. Records of team members Helen Tregellas (nee Cook) and Alice Grant (nee Harvey) have been interfiled with the records of the organization.

The fonds consists of photographs of the business interests of Clarence Hoard. Photographs include images of logging in British Columbia and the manufacture of silos. Also included are photographs collected presumably because Hoard was an investor in several ventures. These include photographs of the Nitinat Lake, Clo-ose and Carmanah regions of Vancouver Island taken by the West Coast Development Company, and photographs of the Cholberg Shipyard and the schooner S.F. Tolmie, which was built at the Cholberg Shipyard.

Scrapbooks document Sorby's work in Victoria, primarily his proposals regarding the development of the Inner Harbour and James Bay Seawalls. Clippings also relate to technological developments, such as fireproof building materials, which influence architectural development. The architectural sketch is a proposed plan of the Parliament Buildings of British Columbia.

The fonds consists of a daily cash journal of the downtown Victoria Eaton's and David Spencer Ltd. department store. Data elements include date, cash, charges and S.D. receipts. Monthly totals are calculated at the end of each month with monthly comparisons at the back of the journal. Journal also documents daily weather conditions as they reflected on the daily operation of the store. Also included are annotations reflecting on current events including both local and world news.

Chambers, Todd family fonds

The fonds consists primarily of glass plate negatives, the majority of which are images of individuals and family groups, including members of the Chambers and Todd families. Other images show industrial and commercial scenes, probably in the Nanaimo and central Vancouver Island areas, which are also the likely locales for a number of the pictures of beach camping scenes. Aside from pictures taken in England, the locales of a substantial number of images can only be surmised to be the Canadian Prairies and the southwestern United States. The work of Arthur Hyde Chambers and Frederick Dundas Todd are irretrievably mixed in this fonds. A single file of textual material consists of letters, real estate documents, a map and clippings.
