Series consists of correspondence, memoranda, and maps relating to zoning. A substantial portion of the series consists of zoning - general files for the period 1931 to 1971. Also included are records relating to zoning for particular areas, e.g., Bridgeport area, specific instance files, e.g., Zoning of Brighouse and B.C. Turf property, and zoning related issues, e.g., keeping animals in residential areas. Series also includes files relating to the Board of Variance, rezoning and special use permit applications, and zoning bylaws. Ongoing relations and negotiations between the municipality and other levels of government are documented.

Series consists of memoranda, zoning information plans/maps, copies of bylaws, correspondence, and plans relating to the role of the Planning Department in administering zoning bylaw regulations. The records document the establishment of zoning generally, and for specific purposes, e.g., churches, roadside stands and liquor establishments; the establishment and development of zoning bylaws and specific zoning districts and areas, e.g., agricultural, residential, industrial, commercial; and the operations and functions of the Board of Variance.

Collection consists mostly of copies of photographs collected by Jack Lowe, Gerry Gilker and Dody Wray, although some original images are also included. The images document the history of Richmond’s race tracks and horse racing industry. Two cassette tapes containing recordings of Jack Short calling races are also included. Collection is arranged in two series: 1. Photographs; 2. Sound recordings.

Fonds consists primarily of scrapbooks and photograph albums compiled by Gwen Anderson or received from various sources and all related to Henry Anderson's political career, and to the Andersons' involvement in community organizations and events in Richmond. The scrapbooks and albums document Richmond's growth and development during Anderson's time in office, and reflect the commitment both Henry and Gwen Anderson felt toward their community. Also included in the fonds are memorabilia related to Anderson's time in office, including slide photographs of various Richmond scenes, pamphlets related to events he and his wife attended, and a sound recording of opening ceremonies at the Richmond Imperial Oil service centre. These appear to have been set aside by Gwen Anderson. In addition, the fonds includes one file of ephemeral items, such as Ladner ferry tickets, unmarked ballot sheets and a building permit, and three oil paintings given as gifts to the Andersons. Fonds is arranged in four series: 1. Scrapbooks and albums; 2. Paintings; 3. Reeve Anderson memorabilia; 4. Ephemera.

The series also includes files with complaints from the public relating to nuisance trees and rocks on municipal property, and separate files for Eurasian water milfoil testing and elimination.

Waterworks atlas

The Waterworks atlas consists of 132 detailed contiguous area maps depicting water lines, sewers, pumphouses and other waterworks facilities in Richmond. The maps also depict the placement and orientation of roads and buildings (somtimes including street addresses) and provide some information linking certain public works projects with bylaws.

Series consists of correspondence, memoranda, reports, appplications and plans relating to the installation, maintenance, inspection and use of municipal waterworks. Topics and intiatives include: applications for water main connections; policy statements and rate tables regarding water and sewer rate charges; studies into the condition and status of the water supply; complaints from the public regarding damaged fire hydrants or water mains; reports on the types, specifications, and quality of materials to be used in municipal water works; records relating to drinking water quality and the GVRD water supply study; records of the Waterworks Coordination Committee; and reports on the condition of the municipal waterworks system. The series includes applications for waterworks services from developers and individuals and detailed plans for the provision of sanitary sewer and waterworks systems. The series also includes certificates of approval for proposed waterworks services from the Provincial Health Ministry, in response to required plans submitted by the Engineering Department. Some of the records also document the municipality's involvement with the Greater Vancouver Regional District, its Water Quality Technical Committee, and the Greater Vancouver Water District.

Series consists of correspondence, memoranda, agreements, studies and plans relating to the provision of a water supply to the City of Richmond and the planning for and maintenance of watermains. Many records in the series relate to Richmond water supply studies - including a separate study of the water supply for the east Richmond and Delta area - and Richmond's involvement with the Greater Vancouver Water District (GVWD). The series includes records relating to a joint water main between Delta and Richmond, the Tilbury main, the Sea Island-Lulu Island water main, and waterworks-related issues as part of the construction and maintenance of the Knight Street Bridge.

Series consists of correspondence, reports, minutes, agreements, inquiries, contracts, maps, tenders and promotional literature relating to the provision of water services to Richmond. A large part of the series is made up of the minutes, reports, financial statements, and other records generated through Richmond's involvement with the Greater Vancouver Water District. Sea Island watermains and agreements between various levels of government with regard to the cost and maintenance of watermains also make up a large part of the series. The remainder of the series is made up of general records such as tenders, waterworks supply orders, records relating to easements for waterworks, ongoing maintenance, and water rate adjustments.

Records relate to the planning, construction, maintenance, and inspection of sidewalks, walkways, crosswalks, curbs, and gutters. Records document requests for services and repairs by the public; negotiations for compensation between the City, contractors and public utilities; and policies and procedures relating to the provision of these services. Topics and initiatives include school and pedestrian crosswalks, crosswalk supervision, adult school safety patrols, fencing adjacent to walkways, and specific walkways/curbs facilities for handicapped persons. The series includes a Municipal Accessibility Study dated 1981.

Series also includes records of the Lower Mainland Regional Planning Board (L.M.R.P.B.), the Fraser Valley Municipal Asociation, the Union of Canadian Federation of Mayors, the Industrial Development Commission, the British Columbia Agricultural Land Commission, and the North Fraser Harbour Commission. Topics covered in the records include light rapid transit, transportation, the harbours, industrialization, and other development issues. In addition, records in this series document ongoing relations between the City and various departments and ministries of the provincial government.

Series consists of correspondence, reports, excerpts from committee minutes and some business and trade related pamphlets. Prior to the late 1950s, all requests for trade licences were made directly to the Municipal Council. After this point, the routine applications were approved by the Licence Inspector and only special cases went forward to Council. The general files consist mainly of requests for licences, complaints against business people for bylaw violations, and records relating to investigatory and punitive actions taken by City Officials. Some special cases relate to the licencing of special event festivals, dog kennels, drive-in theatres, discotheques, ice cream vendors and helicopter air ambulances.
