Fonds consists of the records of the Vernon Drug Co. Ltd. from 1894-1897. Includes two oversized journals containing the prescription invoices of the dispensing chemists. The first journal contains all prescription invoices filled by owner, druggist and dispensing chemist R.N. Taylor, from Dec.1894 - Jan.1896. The second journal begins in mid Jan.1896, just after S.A. Muir's take-over of the business. Some S.A. Muir & Co. invoices are evident, but R.N. Taylor prescription invoices continue to be used until May 1896. In May 1896, with Muir's buy-out of J.S. Donaldson stock, Donaldson prescription invoices appear in the journal. From the end of 1896 until the end of 1897, when the journal ends, Muir's own prescription invoices are used. In all cases, the prescription invoices contain the customer's name, the prescription being filled, instructions on the medicine's use, the prescribing doctor and the date. The invoices are glued to the journal pages in numeric (prescription #) and chronological (daily/monthly) order. Fonds also includes a small "recipe" book of ingredients for prescriptions dated 1892 and a number of loose J.S. Donaldson prescription invoices, both used and unused.
