Fonds consists of the records and documents of the Okanagan Historical Society from 1859-2000. Includes the society's constitution and bylaws, correspondence, meeting minutes, lists, financial records, journals of affiliated organizations, research material, manuscript and poetry submissions, reports, guidelines, ephemera, clippings, and photographs.
Okanagan Historical SocietyFonds consists of the records compiled by Robert Hobson and members of the Greater Vernon Heritage Advisory Committee research team, from 1984-1986. Collected during the team's compilation of a heritage resource inventory of homes and buildings in the Greater Vernon area, the records include both original and copied materials dating from 1874-1986. The records include primary and secondary research materials, research notes, historical papers and essays, heritage assessments, reports, photographs of potential heritage homes, buildings and sites, and numerous maps, plans and blueprints of the surveyed sites and buildings within the Okanagan region.

Includes a letter (1907) to Ike Mann from Vernon resident, Ted Watts, extolling the Vernon areas and its prospects. Also includes a letter (1917) written by one of the Mann family children which details the health and activities of the Mann family.
Mann (family)Fonds consists of the memoirs and reminiscences of Mrs. Eleanora Heal ( nee Leckie-Ewing) produced between 1958-1978. Includes photocopies of the original handwritten manuscript and typed transcript. The manuscript was started by Mrs. Heal in 1958, the year of B.C.'s Centennial, and details the life and activities of her parents, as well as her own. Starting in 1890, Mrs. Heal describes the Ewing-Leckie family background and history, her parents journey to Canada, their settlement on the west side of Okanagan Lake and the reason why the area was later named Ewing's Landing. Mrs. Heal includes a significant amount of historical background on the area and its inhabitants, local native history, memories of her early childhood, special events, and places she travelled.
Heal, Eleanora Leckie-Ewing, 1900-Fonds consists of the records of the Vernon Drug Co. Ltd. from 1894-1897. Includes two oversized journals containing the prescription invoices of the dispensing chemists. The first journal contains all prescription invoices filled by owner, druggist and dispensing chemist R.N. Taylor, from Dec.1894 - Jan.1896. The second journal begins in mid Jan.1896, just after S.A. Muir's take-over of the business. Some S.A. Muir & Co. invoices are evident, but R.N. Taylor prescription invoices continue to be used until May 1896. In May 1896, with Muir's buy-out of J.S. Donaldson stock, Donaldson prescription invoices appear in the journal. From the end of 1896 until the end of 1897, when the journal ends, Muir's own prescription invoices are used. In all cases, the prescription invoices contain the customer's name, the prescription being filled, instructions on the medicine's use, the prescribing doctor and the date. The invoices are glued to the journal pages in numeric (prescription #) and chronological (daily/monthly) order. Fonds also includes a small "recipe" book of ingredients for prescriptions dated 1892 and a number of loose J.S. Donaldson prescription invoices, both used and unused.

Data collected includes the max/min temperatures, hours of sunshine, precipitation, atmosphere, wind and snowfall. Newspaper clippings containing the published version of this information are scattered throughout the journal. Entries also include some family and farming notes, historically notable events, and general remarks. Statistics for Nov.1914 - Mar.1916 are found within a small notebook enclosed within the large weather journal.

Of particular note is the 1948 letter to Mr. Gray from a Logan Mayhew, the chairman of the B.C. Board of Governors, in which the disposal of the Fintry school and property is discussed.
