Riverview Hospital Administrative and Event Records

This series consists of records related to the administration and operation of Riverview Hospital as well as some of the official events and programs organized by the hospital. The series is arranged in two subseries:

SS1: Administrative records
SS2: Event records

Records in this series include manuals, directories, inventories, regulations, procedures, correspondence, programmes and invitations.

Personal Collections

This series consists of records that were original personal fonds and collections acquired and preserved by the Riverview Hospital Historical Society's during its existence. It contains the personal collections of nurses, doctors, general staff, British Columbia's first Provincial Botanist, and a patient at Riverview Hospital. Each file includes records such as study notes, photographs, ephemera, correspondence, newspaper clippings and pamphlets.

The series consists of 15 files, each corresponding to its original creator or donor: Ken Baker, Loretta Barnet, Ultan Patrick Byrne, Jean Campbell, Edna Colvin, John Davidson, Sheila Dumore, William Headridge, Alyce Hockin, Lois Kaldestad, Catherine Murray, Judy Pendry, Dorothy Pocock, Hazel Shepard, and Georgina Bernice Petty.

District of Coquitlam Parks and Recreation Department records

The series documents the activities that Cunnings was involved with and led during his tenure at the District of Coquitlam Parks and Recreation Department and the development of the Department over time.

The series is arranged into thirteen files according to subject, and consists of textual records, photographs, ephemera, and newspaper clippings detailing sports, recreational programs and classes, parks and facility development, and events and initiatives undertaken by the Department, such as BC Summer Games, and Coquitlam Centennial celebrations.

Projects & Events

The series consists of records relating to major events and projects planned and executed by the CFUW- Coquitlam including; the Public Library project; the Eagle Ridge Hospital dedication; hosting the 2006 BC Council AGM; the celebration of the 30th and 50th anniversaries of the organization; and participation in McHappy day in 1992. The series includes a subseries related to the planning and execution of a fashion show held in 1992, entitled "A Tribute to the Creative Woman." Records related to the fashion show include handbooks, meeting minutes, and other assorted records from the numerous committees charged with all aspects of the fashion show, as well as a scrapbook that includes photographs, a poster, and a news clipping related to the event.

The fonds consists of records documenting Ney's many roles and activities in government (as Mayor of Nanaimo and MLA), in local business, and with local community groups in Nanaimo. Fonds includes Ney's personal appointment books, correspondence (including some as Mayor of Nanaimo and as MLA), legal documents, and speeches; MLA files; records created and accumulated by Ney as Chair of the Nanaimo Centennial Committee, 1967, (including records of the Empire Day Celebration Committee, 1958), as Chair of the Loyal Nanaimo Bathtub Society, as President of Great National Land and Investment Corp., and as President of Nanaimo Realty Ltd.; and, photographs depicting Ney's participation in political and community activities and in land and real estate development. The collection consists of annuals and newspapers of A.L. Fortune Secondary School (also known as Enderby High School, Enderby Junior Secondary School and A.L. Collection also includes photographs of classes and events, 1945-1965, as well as photographs of the 1978 Homecoming activities.

The fonds consists of records of the Office of the Mayor of Nanaimo during the terms of Frank Ney and Graeme Roberts. Fonds includes correspondence files, including the personal correspondence of Frank Ney; records of meetings and ceremonies, and a series of files relating to the Committee investigating proposals for a natural gas pipeline on Vancouver Island. Fonds also includes photographs of the Mayor (primarily Frank Ney) involved in numerous ceremonies and activities, along with aerial photographs of various areas of Nanaimo. June and Dick Leahy fonds: 1960

Fonds consists of images of the 1960 fire that razed most of Chinatown. June Leahy, who took all the colour slides, used one of the earliest SLR Pentax cameras while Bill Leahy, who took most of the black and white photographs, used a Leica camera. The photographs of the day after the fire were taken by June. The Leahys were friends with RCMP Staff Sergeant Earle Sarsiat who notified Bill Leahy of the fire; the Leahys were on site soon after the fire was reported.
