Smith Wright fonds

The fonds consists of photographs taken or acquired by Smith Wright, a farmer in Delta, mainly between 1900 and 1920. Many of the images document the farming operations of Smith and his brother William in the area south of 28th Avenue and west of 56th Street in west Delta. The images include May Day parades and celebrations, Lord Byng's visit to Delta in 1922, and scenes having to do with Smith Wright's activities in the community with his family. These include photographs of All Saints Anglican Church, school classes, beach scenes, and Ladner. The 230 prints and negatives consist of 107 unique images, because of overlap in loans made by the donor for copying.

Trevitt family fonds

The fonds consists of correspondence, clippings, World War II memorabilia, marriage and baptismal certificates, financial records, and genealogical notes belonging to members of the Trevitt and Gillanders families. The fonds also consists of correspondence related to the establishment of the Trevitt marina at Deas Slough, and minutes (1975-1977), financial records and correspondence of the Delta Historical and Museum Society. The fonds contains photographs of Trevitt and Gillanders family members and friends, local scenes, farms and buildings, and various social activities, as well as photographs and postcards from John Robert Trevitt's time in the service. The fonds is arranged into 6 series: 1) Edna Trevitt's World War II memorabilia; 2) Gay and John Trevitt's personal records; 3) John Trevitt's military service records; 4) Deas Slough marina records; 5) Gay Trevitt's records from the Delta Historical and Museum Society and other community commitments, and; 6) Photographs.

Edgar Dunning fonds

The fonds consists of Mr. Dunning's family and business records; records accumulated as a member of various community organizations; and documents, manuscripts, and photographs resulting from Edgar's work for the Delta newspaper, the Optimist, and his interest in Delta community events and history. Family records include correspondence and legal records regarding the property on 48th Avenue and Delta Street, as well as financial and educational certificates. A large series of memorabilia includes invitations and other ephemera, which Edgar accumulated as publisher and reporter for the Optimist and as active community member. Business records are largely from the Optimist printing business, and include examples of print products such as invitations, programs, letterheads, tickets, municipal reports, etc., which were printed for local people and businesses of Delta. A small series of Optimist newspaper records include lists of subscribers from the 1940s. The fonds includes a sample of Edgar's writings for the Optimist on historical topics, plus a larger group of manuscripts that have been edited by him in his capacity as editor of the Optimist and as an interested and knowledgeable local historian. The fonds also consists of minutes of meetings, correspondence, reports, etc. accumulated by Edgar as a member of the Delta Community Band, various centennial committees, the Delta Historical and Museum Society, and other organizations. Edgar is a talented amateur photographer, and his photograph collection reflects his work as a reporter and his interest in the people and events of Delta. The fonds consists of records created by Simeon Fisher during the course of owning and operating Fisher's Drug and Book Store. There are several wholesale invoices as well as nine large prescription invoice ledgers and correspondence between Mr. Fisher, local residents and National Drug Co. where he purchased wholesale drugs for his pharmacy. These records cover the years between 1902 and 1948 when his business was in operation. The fonds is arranged in three series: Correspondence; Prescription Invoices; Drug Invoices.

Honeyman, John Dixon

The fonds consists of an accounts journal and seventeen daily journals kept by John Honeyman (1845-1926) and his son Douglas Ramsey Honeyman (1886-1968) from 1883 to 1944, which describe farming the Honeyman family farm at Eden, Manitoba, from 1883 to 1895, the farm at Gulfside near Port Guichon from 1896 to 1902, and the East Delta farm from 1903 to 1914 and 1920 to 1944. Entries from 1883 to about 1905 were made by John Honeyman, and from 1906 to 1944 by Douglas Honeyman. John Honeyman's daily entries are more detailed than those made by Douglas and record farm work and family activities, especially those of the Honeyman children. The journals describe visits with family and neighbors, trips to New Westminster and Vancouver, weather observations, illness, entertainment and social activities. Entries about farm work record seasonal activities for tilling, planting and harvesting grains and potatoes; raising livestock; improving and building farm buildings, fences, etc.; and employing workers such as East Indians and Chinese and their wages. Entries also refer to community political events and frictions, and to work done on shared community infrastructure such as dykes, drainage ditches and roads.

Photographs consist of a 1916 postcard of Boundary Bay School students with their teacher Miss E. Mackenzie, a May Day postcard, a 1917 postcard of Westham Island School students, students and teachers of King George School in the 1920's and 1930's, teachers and students of Delta Central School in the 1920's, a 1913 Baptist picnic in Ladner, and five photographs of Delta Choral Society productions. Textual records consist of programs for the 1933 Delta Choral Society production of The Mikado, the 1934 production of The Pirates of Penzance, the 1935 production of The Gondoliers, a 1959 invitation to the opening ceremony of Deas Island Tunnel, and a 1981 program for the centennial banquet of All Saints Anglican Church.

The collection consists of 22 photographs that show in a variety of detail the operation and structures of a shingle mill and logging railroad in North Delta in the early part of the 1900's. The collection includes photographs of the owner, Wesley Thompson, his family, and mill workers. The donor also provided photocopies of clippings and genealogical information about the Thompson family, which are located in the Archives Reference files under Wesley Thompson.

Fonds consists of records relating to the publication of the book, "Above the Sand Heads". Records include T. Ellis Ladner's research notes and extracts from book reviews, materials collected and edited by T. Ellis Ladner's daughter, Edna Ladner, and shorthand notes for T. Ellis' father, Thomas Ladner. Records in this fonds document the early history of Delta. Fonds also includes an unpublished work of T. Ellis Ladner, "On and By the River: Early Days in British Columbia."
