June Leahy, who took all the colour slides, used one of the earliest SLR Pentax cameras while Bill Leahy, who took most of the black and white photographs, used a Leica camera. The photographs of the day after the fire were taken by June. The Leahys were friends with RCMP Staff Sergeant Earle Sarsiat who notified Bill Leahy of the fire; the Leahys were on site soon after the fire was reported.
