The fonds consists of historical material created and accumulated by Rupert Harrison in the course of his work as a historian and archivist, and his activities with various professional organizations. The material includes newspaper clippings, correspondence, documents, notes, reports, oral interviews, essays, minutes, booklets, pamphlets, maps, technical drawings, photographs, and objects.
Harrison, Rupert, 1914-2007
The collection consists of sound recordings of interviews with pioneers of Salt Spring Island and of addresses of meetings of the Salt Spring Island Historical Society. The collection includes interviews conducted as part of the C.B.C. Imbert Orchard series, the Salt Spring Senior Citizens Project (1977), a project done by Tony Farr, and projects of the Salt Spring Island Historical Society.
Collection consists of government records, documents, photographs, correspondence, and brochures related to the Sechelt area and the history of the Sunshine Coast. Donors include the University Women's Club and St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary.
The fonds consists of glass plate negatives of the military, the Pacific Great Eastern Railway, and people and scenes of Vancouver and Victoria. Some of the photographs are by V. Vinson.
Rognon, Orville J.The fonds consists of a diary (1901) of Phoebe Fulton describing community events and daily activities in and around the Fernridge District of Langley, B.C., at the turn of the century, and containing genealogical information from 1861 to 1931.
Fulton, PhoebeThe collection consists of photographs of scenes, events, industry and people in the Maple Ridge area, including the communities of Whonnock, Hammond, Haney, Port Haney, Yennadon, Websters Corner, Ruskin, Albion, and The Ridge.
The fonds consists of administrative and operational records of the Bowen Island Historical Preservation Association, including its constitution, minutes (1990-2004), correspondence (1981-2001), as well as copies of printed and published materials and collected reference materials pertinent to BIHPA activities.
Bowen Island Heritage Preservation AssociationDuring their time living in Bella Bella, the Houstons took many photographs of the lives of the Heiltsuk First Nation community documenting the day-to-day lives of the Heiltsuk First Nation as well as ceremonial activities. The color slides document the construction, painting, and launching of the Gi’wa, a Heiltsuk canoe which sailed with the Lootaas, the Haida canoe built by Bill Reid for Expo 86. Some of the slides document the welcome feast at Bella Bella in honor of the Haida crew of the Lootaas. The color slides also document several potlatches and wedding feasts held in the community hall, and the local Sports Day parade. Slides also depict the role of the fishing in the community, such as smoking salmon and processing roe. Other photos document gravestones on a nearby cemetery island, derelict canneries, petroglyphs and pictographs, totem poles and house posts, all in or near Bella Bella.
Houston (family)The collection includes material relating to Alert Bay that was created or collected by Thomas and Mildred Laurie, as well as photographs and textual records created or received by James Barclay Williams, who bequeathed the records to Mildred Laurie. The collection includes a photo album, photographs, postcards, correspondence, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, and a calendar. Photographs document Alert Bay and the surrounding area, including the B.C. Packers store, Christ Church, the native cemetery, St. Michael’s Residential School and Preventorium, Canada Packers, Hardy Bay, totem poles, a long house, and the Nimpkish Hotel. Photographs also document local events, including potlatches, weddings, an outdoor salmon barbeque, BC centenary celebrations in 1958, native ceremonies, and a visit by the Governor General.

British Columbia Student FederationThe series consists of photographs predominantly depicting aspects of social and administrative life at Riverview Hospital and the School of Psychiatric Nursing as well as and Colony Farm. The photographs in the series portray the everyday social life of Riverview Hospital staff and volunteers as well as events, meetings, gatherings, and kinds of work they undertook. Additionally the series depicts scenes of Riverview Hospital's many buildings in varying states of completion, portraits of prize winning livestock (Holstein cattle, Clydesdale and Belgian horses), scenes during periods of flooding at Colony Farm, and equipment, vehicles, and technology used by the Hospital.
The glass plate negatives in Subseries 01 and 04 are known to have been taken by W.J. Moore, a prominent Vancouver photographer. It is possible that the entire collection was taken by W.J. Moore, although it has not been possible to confirm. Some photographs in Subseries 02 are thought to depict the Provincial Hospital for the Insane in New Westminster. Photographs in Subseries 04 are also thought to depict the Dominion Experimental Farm in Agassiz, B.C.
Record types consists largely of silver gelatin negatives in large format cellulose acetate sheets and cellulose acetate film strips. The subseries also contains a collection of glass plate negatives, chromogenic colour negative film strips and large format sheets, silver gelatin DOP prints, a photograph album, and a scrapbook.
This series consists of publications and communications created by Riverview Hospital and related agencies, including the titles Association News - News of the Essondale Branch of the B.C. This subseries consists of theses and dissertations based on research and findings at Riverview Hospital. It was originally a division in the museum library collection.
This subseries consists of nursing annuals (yearbooks) given to nursing students at their graduation. The annuals include lists of graduating students and their photographs, as well as other information about the school year. Additionally, the subseries includes two reunion books for the graduating classes of 1957 and 1958.
This subseries consists of photographs depicting graduation ceremonies and class photographs of the School of Psychiatric Nursing. It also includes photographs of the Nurses' Residences and nursing buildings, and some of the departmental photographs of nurses.
The series consists of one videocassette featuring the entire broadcast of the Miss Coquitlam pageant from 1986.
