The Delta Museum and Archives manuscript collection consists of material acquired by the archives and museum that have no provenance or donor information, or do not constitute or belong to a fonds. The collection includes materials that are ephemeral in nature such as programmes, posters, pamphlets, directories, and scrapbooks; records of people, businesses and organizations in the form of ledgers, certificates, etc; and municipal government reports and publications. The collection documents community events and the lives of people in Delta.

The collection consists of 22 photographs that show in a variety of detail the operation and structures of a shingle mill and logging railroad in North Delta in the early part of the 1900's. The collection includes photographs of the owner, Wesley Thompson, his family, and mill workers. The donor also provided photocopies of clippings and genealogical information about the Thompson family, which are located in the Archives Reference files under Wesley Thompson.

Volume 1 includes an introduction, acknowledgements and writings from Beach Grove, Chalmers, Devon Gardens, and English Bluff; volume 2 includes writings from Annieville, Cougar Canyon, Gray, and Jarvis; volume 3 is from Brooke, Gibson, and Pinewood; volume 4 is from Hawthorne, Heath, and Hellings; volume 5 is from Delta Manor, Ladner, and Richardson; volume 7 is from Cliff Drive, McCloskey, and Pebble Hill.

Dennison family fonds

Fonds consists of photographs, an essay entitled "Memoirs of a Ladner Lad" written by William James Dennison, and a family tree prepared by Bill Dennison. The fonds also includes three ledgers from the Ladner Shoe Store. The photographs document many aspects of the Dennison's family life in Delta such as potato farming, gardening and a variety of social activities.

The collection consists of maps and diagrams published by the Geological Survey of Canada about the geomorphology and tidal action at the mouth of the Fraser River (reproduced "to accompany a report by W.A. Johnson"), a hand painted canvas map about "Proposed New Fraser River Tunnel and North Arm Crossing", and a publication "The Tides and Tidal Streams" by the Department of Naval Service, Ottawa.

The collection consists of a wide variety of material relating to Delta. It includes leaflets, tickets, memberships cards, raffle tickets, voters' lists, photographs, programs, and booklets. The photographs depict Delta people and places. Also included are records of the Delta Community Band, some records of the Ladner Optimist and the Delta Centennial Committee.

Edgar Dunning fonds

The fonds consists of Mr. Dunning's family and business records; records accumulated as a member of various community organizations; and documents, manuscripts, and photographs resulting from Edgar's work for the Delta newspaper, the Optimist, and his interest in Delta community events and history. Family records include correspondence and legal records regarding the property on 48th Avenue and Delta Street, as well as financial and educational certificates. A large series of memorabilia includes invitations and other ephemera, which Edgar accumulated as publisher and reporter for the Optimist and as active community member. Business records are largely from the Optimist printing business, and include examples of print products such as invitations, programs, letterheads, tickets, municipal reports, etc., which were printed for local people and businesses of Delta. A small series of Optimist newspaper records include lists of subscribers from the 1940s. The fonds includes a sample of Edgar's writings for the Optimist on historical topics, plus a larger group of manuscripts that have been edited by him in his capacity as editor of the Optimist and as an interested and knowledgeable local historian. The fonds also consists of minutes of meetings, correspondence, reports, etc. accumulated by Edgar as a member of the Delta Community Band, various centennial committees, the Delta Historical and Museum Society, and other organizations. Edgar is a talented amateur photographer, and his photograph collection reflects his work as a reporter and his interest in the people and events of Delta. Edith Curran fonds

The fonds consists of photographs, cash and ledger books, and memorabilia belonging to Edith Curran. Many of the photographs are of Edith's family in England, as well as photographs of the farm in Delta Manor and vacations in Canada. An album belonging to Ernie Goubault, who lived with the Currans, contains scenes of Ladner and the farm. Of special interest are Edith Curran's cash and ledger books which provide uninterrupted detail about farming activities and household expenses for a period of 40 years (1931 to 1972).

Edith Eleanor Pearson fonds

Fonds consists of black and white photographs, black and white copy prints, and negatives of the Pearson family at home in New Westminster and on holidays in British Columbia, Alberta, the United States (particularly California), and Europe. Includes many photographs of the Pearson family and friends engaged in leisure activities at their vacation home, "Edgewood", at Boundary Bay. The property was purchased by the Major and Pearson families in 1896. It is identified on the Corporation of Delta's Assessment Roll No. 160 as part of Lot 30, Group 2, consisting of two acres. The property was approximately where Meredith Place is now. The families that owned the neighbouring lots included the Corbould, Drew, Meredith, Major, and Kirkland families. Unidentified people in the Boundary Bay photographs may include members of these families. The majority of the photographs concern the activities of the Pearson, Major and Lee families. Edith's interest in photography appears to have begun around the time of her youngest son Geoffrey's birth in 1901, and the collection contains many photographs of him from infancy through adulthood. He married Shirley Foley and had a son, Ken. The two older boys, Thomas Roy (known as Roy) and Leslie, were born in 1888 and 1891, respectively. Roy appears to have been in the military during World War I, and later married Nora, a teacher. They had no children. The photographs show Roy and Nora at their home in Los Angeles and later in South Westminster, where they had a chicken farm. Leslie is also shown in uniform during the war. He married Ethel Watson in 1912, and they had a daughter Mary Isabel, who appears to have visited her Pearson grandparents frequently. Also prominent in the collection are Edith's niece and nephew, Dorothy and Ormsby Lee, the children of her sister Mildred Jane and John Andrew ("Jack") Lee, a New Westminster merchant. Dorothy traveled frequently with her aunt before her marriage to Sid Mallinson, with whom she had a daughter, Diana. Ormsby married Jessie Blair and had a son, John ("Jackie").

Ernest Burnett fonds

The fonds consists of one series of material created by Ernest Burnett in his capacity as mayor: in particular, as a member of the Delta Centennial Committee, which held its meetings in Council chambers. Mr. Burnett's copies of the Committee minutes constitute one series of the fonds. A second series of material includes material Mr. Burnett created as treasurer of the Delta Agricultural Society. This series includes financial statements (1950-1954), and racing programs for Paterson Park (1962-1968). The final series in this fonds consists of one file containing a program for the "Freedom Ceremony" celebrating Delta's 90th Anniversary (1969), and a promotional newspaper entitled "Delta Election '71 News". which promotes the "Delta Team" of municipal candidates including incumbent Mayor Dugald Morrison, Alderman Doug Watkins, Ernie Burnett, and Harold Savage.

The fonds consists of personal papers related to Ernie Taylor's service in WWII; a history of and records related to the RCAF Station at Boundary Bay; research notes, field books and reports related to his BA and MA theses; reports and notes related to his employment with Canadian Wildlife Service; and photographs of Delta residents and landscapes. The fonds includes Taylor's B.A. Thesis "Winter Food Habits of the Ring Necked Pheasant in the Lower Fraser Valley", his M.A. Thesis "A Study on the Factors Affecting the Reproduction and Survival of the Ring Necked Pheasant in the Lower Fraser Valley", and a review for CWS titled "Wildlife and Recreation in Boundary Bay".

The fonds consists of a photograph album and postcards belonging to Martin Paulson. Also included are a list of Swedes who came to Ladner at the turn of the century, as well as historical notes on Martin Paulson and his sea chest compiled by Esther Paulson, Martin's niece.

The fonds consists of records and photographs that document the activities of Ethel's parents, children and husband, and collections of photographs, taped and transcribed interviews, historical notes, and records accumulated in her function as member of various organizations, author of a memoir "From Dawn to the Twilight Years", and local historian. The fonds contains miscellaneous records of the I.O.D.E. and the Delta Museum and Archives, and photographs of members of the I.O.D.E. and Dugout committee. The fonds holds a collection of Mowat family photographs used in Ethel's memoir; a collection of records and photographs, largely belonging to the McKee family, found at the McKee House prior to its renovation as a Senior Citizen's Centre; and a collection of taped and transcribed interviews with Ethel and Sid Mowat, and others conducted by Ethel with local residents, including Bob Trim and Rosetta Saga.

The fonds consists of records created by Simeon Fisher during the course of owning and operating Fisher's Drug and Book Store. There are several wholesale invoices as well as nine large prescription invoice ledgers and correspondence between Mr. Fisher, local residents and National Drug Co. where he purchased wholesale drugs for his pharmacy. These records cover the years between 1902 and 1948 when his business was in operation. The fonds is arranged in three series: Correspondence; Prescription Invoices; Drug Invoices.

The fonds consists of a diary kept by Frank Fisher. Part of the diary appears to be written at the time he was a bookkeeper at Deas Island in 1912; this section of the diary is written in pen. Other entries written in pencil chronicle the day to day activities of farm life. It is likely, therefore that this section was written after Mr. Fisher returned from the war and started farming Deas Island. The fonds also consists of a letter found in Mr. Fisher's diary, written to him by a relative or friend, Kathleen, living overseas.

The fonds consists of photographs of the following: Ladner Elementary School students in 1915 and 1922, Ladner Baseball Team (oversize), Landner Lacross Team in 1935, Vernon (Ted) Taylor in his harness making shop, snow scene in Delta with Clement, Lambert and Myrtle Grant (McRae), the Hanford and Taylor families on a Sunday afternoon drive with horses and buggy in front of the Hanford home on Stanley Street in 1913, May Day, parade in front of Ladner Meat market, musicians in parade, crowd on the steps of what is now the Delta Museum and Archives building, and Australian Cadets. Also consists of program for the First Annual Banquet an Dance of the Delta Ex-High Club, a Farm Service News brochure and a small handwritten program for the graduating class of 1926 at King George V High School.

The fonds consists of a record book/scrapbook belonging to Mabel Garvey and photographs mostly of the Gray sisters and their families. The photographs are loose or in an album. The photographs are of the B.C. Interior, Ladner, Beach Grove, Washington and California. Several photographs are of early Ladner fishing canneries and of the Delta Hotel.
