May Day collection
CA WVAN 005 · Collection · 1998-

The collection consists of material relating to May Day celebrations which was a key community event in West Vancouver from 1931 to 1971. The celebrations included installation of a May Day Queen, parades and other ceremonies. After 1971, the celebration was renamed Community Day, and the collection also includes records pertaining to this event.The material includes photographs, registers, scrapbooks, speeches, organizing committee records, and correspondence.

Shannon Park area collection

The collection consists of two files of correspondence, petitions and newsclippings documenting efforts to preserve Shannon Park as a community park. The first file pertains to work carried out by the Shannon Park Area Improvement Association (1941-1949) and the second covers efforts of area residents (1977).

Collection consists of lantern slides depicting church buildings in England and Ireland, illustrations of David Livingstone's stories, portraits of individuals, daily indoor and outdoor scenes, landscapes, texts, poems, hymns and prayers issued by General Board of Religious Education. Includes also more recent photographic slides which depict British Columbia church buildings and sites (Yukon's churches), events (the visit of the Archbishop of Canterbury to the Anglican College of Theology - 1964, the construction of the ATC chapel - 1963, activities of faculty and students at the ATC, church buildings in other dioceses in the Ecclesiastical Province of British Columbia.

The collection consists of mimeographed scripts for two plays presented by the club at the Empire Theatre, Calcutta, India. The scripts come from the plays' original productions in England, several years earlier. Also included are programmes for the two plays, a clipping containing a review of one play, and a rehearsal list for the other play. The two plays are “Murder on the Second Floor” by Frank Vosper and “The Wind and the Rain” by Merton Hodge.

The collection consists of two albums of photographs with some supplementary textual material. Included in the first album are photographs of the Memorial Service held at Isandhlwana, Zululand to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Zulu War (1879), plus some photographs of battle locations, taken about the same time. Also included are clippings from various English papers and a handwritten transcription of a relevant passage from Rider Haggard's autobiography. The second album contains photographs taken at various sites (ca.1896) including Teneriffe, Canary Islands; Durban, South Africa, as well as other places in Natal and Zululand; Dar-es-Salam, German East Africa; Zanzibar; Somalia; Aden; Suez Canal & Port Said (Egypt); Naples, Pompeii and Rome, Italy; Switzerland, mostly Lucerne; Paris, France; Madeira. Also included are some tipped-in clippings concerning the death (1879) of the Prince Imperial (called Napoleon IV by French Bonapartists).
