The latest is incomplete but does include a manuscript schematic drawing of Nanaimo mine locations. Copies of Mr. Carruthers miner's certificates, copies of newspaper articles written about Mr. Carruthers upon his retirement and his textbooks on mining are also included. A number of these are from the International Correspondence School (ICS). Also included are two Special Rules booklets that outline the rules and regulations of Western Fuel Company mines in Nanaimo and descriptions of various mine jobs (shotlighter, bratticemen, loaders etc.).

Canadian Collieries (Dunsmuir)Fonds consists of cannery ledgers, minutes, labour contracts, correspondence, licences and inspection reports for canneries, operational records of the reduction plant at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, photographs, publications and a "China Contract" which sets out the terms for the provision of labourers for the Gulf of Georgia Cannery in its first year of operation. The labour contracts also describe agreements between the Canadian Fishing Company and members of the United Fishermen and Allied Workers Union governing hours of work, wages and fish prices. The minutes are those describing the establishment of the Gulf of Georgia Canning Company in 1894. The most complete records are those of the operation of the reduction plant from the 1940s to the 1970s. Alberni Court No. 3803The fonds is comprised of photographs documenting the activities and concerns of the west coast fishing industry: fishing boats, fishing and fish processing, fish plants and canneries, special events related to the promotion of fish products, Adams River sockeye runs, traditional First Nations fisheries, sports fishing, research on salmon, salmon habitat destruction, and hatchery and fishways construction and operations. The pictures were taken all along the British Columbia coast from the San Juan fishing grounds on southwestern Vancouver Island to Prince Rupert. Included are photographs taken at salmon producing lakes and rivers in the interior of British Columbia. Some of the photographs originated at food shows in Europe and the Tokyo wholesale fish market. The fonds includes 12 films with fishing related topics plus a small amount of textual material related to the photographs.
